Kara McKormick gets chosen to compete in what she’s told is what is going to be a new hit teen TV show.  She will be staying in a house in Orlando with nine other girls and a somewhat eccentric housemother and during the time, be participating in all sorts of auditions and trials.  However unbeknownst to her, she is not auditioning to show off her acting ability and talent.  She and the nine other girls are instead being watched for their character, faith, and how they live their life behind the scenes and in “normal” life.

There is a lot I left out, but you’ll have no problem figuring out what’s going on.  This was a super easy read, which I pretty much read from start to finish in one sitting.  There are a lot of good takeaways and lessons to learn on popularity and humility.  The biblical basis is very solid, and presents a very good message on the importance of how the people you surround yourself influence and help you make important in your life, whether good or bad.
It was very captivating and the storyline flowed really well, I never felt like I didn’t know what was happening or going on.  The best way to describe it is: a fun, super easy read.

Once again, yet another incredible book!

The Pleasures of God is exactly what is sounds like, it's based of the premise that in order to understand someone you have to know what gives them joy, and the same goes for our Creator.  Piper goes through great lengths and details to show how we can be satisfied and find pleasure in God, because God find pleasure and satisfaction in Himself.

As with any of Piper's book, reading them is no small chore, it takes a long, long time and a lot of patience and focus.  However the wealth of information  and insight that you get out of the journey is incredible!

Cruel Harvest is a story of pain, abuse, and how a family was split apart, yet after years how they were reunited.  It is also a story of the power of forgiveness and the healing that it brings.

I thought I knew what I was getting into, when I decided to read the book, however after reading it I was stunned.  I was stunned by all that Fran had gone through, yet even more so that she was able to forgive.  I was stunned that through all she went through she found peace, joy, hope, and a family at last.  It gave me a difference perspective on the life that people around me could be living, and how my actions could give hope, or despair to someone.  The book made me realize to make sure to not “judge” someone on their outward appearance, because I don’t know what horror they could be living in.

The other thing that struck me was Fran’s ability to forgive.  It goes to show the incredible power of Jesus Christ, in that apart from His strength and power I don’t how anyone could forgive their father for the heinous crimes, abuse, and pain they caused.

I can’t exactly say that it was an enjoyable read, cause it wasn’t, it’s a very sad story of the life of Francis Grubb, however it is a book worth reading to both show the power of forgiveness and the ability to move on and to achieve joy and hope in life, even with a childhood that was can’t even be described.

Tidewater Inn, located on Hope Island is the multi-million dollar property that Libby Holladay discovered she had inherited from her father, whom she never knew and had been told was dead.  Strange events start to occur, her best friend and business partner is kidnapped and all the evidence is pointing to her.  This is the story of how she tries to find her best friend, prove her innocence, and deal with her family’s past.

Tidewater Inn was a pretty mysterious, and suspenseful book starting out, however as the book went on and on you figured out what was going on and who was behind what.  The book started with suspense and mystery to then by the end to have dissolved into a romantic style book.  I have no complaints with the change; however it is not really a book that will have guessing around every corner.  Instead the book is one that is a relaxing easy type read, which I enjoyed.

The story did seem to drag on in a couple of points, but besides that, I didn’t really have any complaints.  If you looking for a relaxing easy read I would recommend it.
